Our most important partners are naturally Reform, Liberal and Progressive Jewish organizations around the world. Our constituent organizations work closely with the congregations, youth and synagogue movements in their countries as well as with their regional movements. In the international arena, arzenu works side-by-side with the World Union for Progressive Judaism. To deliver our work on the ground in Israel, we build on our strong partnership with the Israel Movement for Reform and Progressive Judaism (IMPJ).
In order to maximize our strength in the National Institutions, we work closely with other groups represented in the World Zionist Organization. The World Union for Progressive Judaism (WUPJ) is our natural partner with whom we work hand-in hand. However, due to its status as an apolitical organization (irgun) the WUPJ is not able to sign a formal political coalition agreement, which necessitates partnerships with other political groupings. If you want to learn more about how this works, click here.
At the last World Zionist Congress in 2015, arzenu signed a formal coalition agreement with Meretz, the Zionist Union (Avodah and Hatnu’ah) and Kadimah/Hano’ar. This agreement means that our Joint Faction is the largest grouping in the World Zionist Organization, holding about 36% of the total votes. Since October 2017, we have also been working very closely with Mercaz (the political organization of the Masorti/Conservative movement), Yesh Atid and Confederation. Together, we hold just over 50% of the votes.
